JEFFERSON CITY, Tenn. – Oluwatimi Williams has been named the WePlayed South Atlantic Conference Field Athlete of the Week.
After setting new school records back-to-back weeks, Oluwatimi Williams (Murfreesboro, Tenn.) has been rewarded and named the SAC Men’s Field Athlete of the Week.
Beginning the outdoor season with a new school record in shot put at the Lee Invitational, Williams set out to break another record and he did so at the King University Invitational, smashing the school record in the discus throw by nearly a full meter.
Williams set a distance of 54.69m in Bristol, breaking the school record from three seasons earlier. The mark is also the fourth best across Division II, only beaten by Owen Fraser of Missouri S&T, Spencer Helms of Harding, and Brennan Boord of Pittsburg State.
The distance not only gave Williams the win at the King Invitational in the discus throw, but he also stood atop the podium for the shot put, the event that he had set another school record in just one week prior with a distance of 16.31m in that event.
Carson-Newman Track and Field gets its biggest test of the outdoor season just under an hour away from Mossy Creek at the Tennessee Invite hosted by the University of Tennessee at the Tom Black Track at LaPorte Stadium in Knoxville, Tenn.
