JEFFERSON CITY, Tenn. – For the third-straight match, Carson-Newman faced a ranked team and battled hard with them.
Carson-Newman (4-3) dropped a home contest to No. 21 Purdue Northwest (13-3) in the first-ever meeting between the two sides, 4-2.
The bright side of the match was the doubles pairings, where the Eagles were able to take the point from the Pride, but dropped four of the first five singles flights that clinched the match for PNW.
“Doubles was fantastic,” Carson-Newman Men’s Tennis head coach Nathan Gangelhoff said. “I told the boys, I have zero complaints about doubles. We executed a lot of great shots. (Court) three doubles was down early, they fought back. Out execution for doubles is very, very high.”
In singles, Boris Jordanov made his dual match debut while Leonard Baecker recorded the lone win of the singles flights for the Eagles on court five.
