Hartvig Named CSC Academic All-American

JEFFERSON CITY, Tenn. – Carson-Newman senior swimmer Asger Hartvig (Hoersholm, Denmark) has been named to the 2025 CSC Academic All-America First Team, as announced Wednesday afternoon.

Hartvig continues to etch his name in the Carson-Newman history books, becoming just the second athlete in school history to earn Academic All-America honors three times, joining former women’s swimmer Mary Northcut.

Throughout his time with the C-N swim program, Hartvig has been a consistent standout both in the classroom and in the pool. During the 2024-25 season, he was honored with two of the NCAA’s top academic awards: the NCAA Elite 90 Award and the South Atlantic Conference Elite 23 Award, recognizing his exceptional academic achievements. He becomes only the second Eagle ever to receive the Elite 90 distinction, following Nancy Claire Smith in 2015.

Hartvig currently maintains a perfect 4.00 GPA as a Mathematics major.

In the pool, Hartvig had a stellar senior campaign. At the 2025 SAC Championships, he earned five medals—two gold, two silver, and one bronze—and set a new school record in the 100-yard breaststroke with a time of 53.63 seconds. Over his four-year career, he has qualified for the NCAA National Championships multiple times, consistently representing Carson-Newman at the highest level.
