JEFFERSON CITY, Tenn. – Carson-Newman Men’s Tennis faces Catawba and Mars Hill in its final home contests of the season.
Carson-Newman (8-5, 5-3 South Atlantic Conference) hosts yet another ranked opponent as No. 12 Catawba (14-2, 8-0 SAC) comes to town on Monday.
The Catawba Indians have won seven in a row and have only allowed three team points to one conference foe, Wingate. Catawba is led by three freshmen: Thomas Kostka, Agustin Mastri, and Luca Bergonzi who have combined to go 31-3 in singles this season.
Mars Hill (2-13, 1-9 SAC) is on a five-match losing streak taking its conference win from Emory & Henry on March 11, that was the last time the Lions took a conference team point. Paolo Gutierrez leads statistically at 5-4 in singles.
Carson-Newman has lost two straight conference matches against Wingate and Lincoln Memorial looking to get back on track with an upset of Catawba or in its final home match of the season against Mars Hill.
Carson-Newman faces Catawba on Monday, April 7 at 2 p.m. from the Charles A. “Buddy” Catlett Tennis Complex in Jefferson City with Mars Hill coming to town the following day for an 2 p.m. start.
