OKATIE, S.C. – Carson-Newman women’s golf stayed put following day two of the Oldfield Intercollegiate, finishing tied for 3rd at 60-over.
Ida Petersen led C-N, jumping eight spots to finish tied for 11th following a 71-stroke third round to close the tournament at 11-over. Petersen was stellar on the front nine, carding a birdie to open the round before shooting the rest of the holes at par to enter the back nine at 1-under. Petersen matched a pair of bogeys with two birdies and the other holes at par, finishing the round at 1-under.
Emery Fisher tied for 15th, shooting a 75 in round two to finish the event at 14-over. The sophomore carded three bogeys on the front nine, but six pars helped limit the damage and enter the back nine at 3-over. Fisher shot a pair of bogeys on the back nine, but an eagle and six pars helped negate the two bogeys and end the round at 3-over.
Madison Cline tied for 19th with an 81-stroke third round to finish the tournament at 17-over. Six holes over par sent Cline to the back nine at 8-over, but a birdie and six pars helped limit the damage of a pair of bogeys on the back nine to help Cline end the round at 9-over.
Anaelle Picot delivered an 80-stroke third round, finishing the event in 31st at 21-over. Picot added four strokes on the front nine with four bogeys, but five pars helped her enter the final stretch at 4-over. Four holes over par added four strokes to her total, but a birdie and four pars limited the damage and closed the round at 8-over.
Sydney Thomas rounds out the Eagles in 47th, carding an 80 in the final round and finishing the tournament at 26-over. Three holes over par added four strokes to Thomas’ total, but six pars helped her enter the back nine at 4-over. Thomas carded three holes over par on the back nine, but a birdie and five pars helped her close the round at 8-over.
With another impressive performance, the Eagles look to take the momentum into next week’s Patsy Rendleman Invitational on March 24th and 25th in Salisbury, North Carolina.
