C-N Uses Team-Best Round to Finish 8th at Ralph Hargett Invitational

MONROE, N.C. – Carson-Newman delivered its best team round of the tournament on Tuesday, moving up three spots to finish tied for 8th at the Ralph Hargett Invitational.

Nick Daugherty climbed 19 spots following a 67-stroke third-round performance, finishing the event at 3-under. Daugherty was stellar on the front nine, carding three birdies, an eagle, and five pars to enter the back nine at 5-under. He canceled a late double bogey with a pair of birdies and six pars, finishing the round at 5-under.

Elliot MacGregor jumped 25 spots, closing the event in 26th with a 68 in round two. MacGregor matched a pair of bogeys with two birdies on the front nine, stroking the other holes at par to enter the back nine at even-par. MacGregor started the back nine with five consecutive pars and closed the round with four straight birdies to end the round at 4-under.

Ian Schoonmaker tied for 48th, carding a 72 in round three to finish at 6-over. The freshman shot a pair of birdies to cancel two bogeys to enter the final stretch at even-par. Schoonmaker carded all nine holes at par on the back nine, finishing at even-par.

Owen Larson shot a 76 in round three, closing the event at 9-over. Larson carded four bogeys on the front nine, but a birdie and four pars sent him to the back nine at 3-over. The freshman had two holes over par on the back nine, but a pair of birdies and five pars helped him finish the round at 4-over.

Aidan Powter rounded out the Eagles on day two, shooting an 83 in the final round to finish at 21-over. Six bogeys on the front nine sent Powter to the final stretch at 6-over. Five holes over par added a handful of strokes to Powter’s tally, but a pair of birdies limited the damage to finish his round at 11-over.

The Eagles face a quick turnaround, heading to the Tennessee River Rumble in Lenoir City, Tennessee, on March 24th and 25th.
