C-N places five on CSC Academic All-District team

2025 CSC All-District Teams

ORLANDO, Fla. – For the third consecutive season, Carson-Newman baseball placed five players on the College Sports Communicators Academic All-District team, the organization announced Tuesday afternoon.

 Position players Logan Floyd, Aiden Gibson, Tanner Kilgore, Trey Miller and Cole Nathan were honored. Gibson and Miller each earn their straight honor all-district honor from the CSC, while sophomores Floyd, Kilgore and Nathan each earn their first CSC all-district honor.

 


 


In his junior campaign, Gibson was C-N’s everyday third baseman making starts in 55 of the 56 games in 2025. The Cleveland, Tenn. native posted a .272 batting average while driving in 26 runs on 47 hits. He hit three home runs and led Carson-Newman with 34 walks. Gibson had 12 multi-hit days and drove in multiple runs in seven different games. During the year, Gibson had a 19-game on-base streak, second-longest on the team.

After an All-SAC third team honor as a freshman, Floyd elevated his game as a sophomore to earn All-SAC first team honors this season. The first baseman led Carson-Newman in basically every hitting category. Leading the team with his .364 batting average, .505 slugging, 75 hits, 17 doubles, four home runs and 51 RBI. The Adairsville, Ga native posted 22 multi-hit days, including six games with three hits or more. He delivered 13 multi-RBI days, with six of those being days with at least 3.

Kilgore collects his first career honor after hitting .313 as Carson-Newman’s primary designated hitter for most of 2025. The sophomore tied for the team lead with four home runs and drove in 33 runs over 45 appearances. Kilgore was exceptional with runners in scoring position hitting .410 in those situations in 2025, one of the higher marks by a C-N player. He had nine multi-RBI games, highlighted by a career-high five RBI against Shorter on Feb 4.

Miller is an all-district team pick for the second straight season. He concluded his collegiate career in style, posting his best season in the Orange and Blue. Miller hit a career-best .319, while also posting career numbers in hits (51), RBI (35), walks (24), on-base percentage (.439) and stolen bases (16). C-N’s everyday centerfielder was second on the club with 16 doubles and so were his 19 extra-base knocks. The senior had 13 multi-hit and seven multi-RBI days.

Nathan earned his first career academic honor after an extremely productive 2025 sophomore season. Batting .339 with 64 hits and 44 RBI, Nathan earned All-SAC second team honors at second base. 16 of those 64 base hits went for extra bases, eight doubles, a team-high four triples and four home runs. Nathan’s reliable middle of the order bat produced 12 multi-RBI and 19 multi-hit days. He matched his career high in hits (4) on two different occasions and his career high in RBI (4) three different times.

The 2025 Academic All-District® Baseball teams, selected by College Sports Communicators, recognize the nation’s top student-athletes for their combined performances on the diamond and in the classroom. The CSC Academic All-America® program separately recognizes baseball honorees in four divisions — NCAA Division I, NCAA Division II, NCAA Division III and NAIA.

Academic All-District® honorees were considered for advancement to the CSC Academic All-America® ballot. Floyd, Kilgore, Miller and Nathan have been selected as CSC Academic All-America® finalists and have advanced to the national ballot to be voted on by CSC members. First-, second- and third-team Academic All-America® honorees will be announced July 1, 2025.
