Athletic Communications office brings home national honor in Fred Stabley Writing Contest

ORLANDO – Carson-Newman’s Athletic Communications office has been lauded with a national winner for the College Sports Communicators Fred Stabley Sr. Writing Contest, the organization announced Tuesday.

Adam Greene’s story on the Carson-Newman volleyball program’s experiences helping clean up following Hurricane Helene’s impact on the area won the title in the college division for General Feature/Blog.

“I’ve known what Greene can do behind a camera for a long time, but he also is really versatile as a writer,” Associate AD for Athletic Communications/External Operations Adam Cavalier said. “He agreed a few years ago to help out with football recaps purely so we could get back home quicker returning from road games. We’ve been blessed that he has agreed to expand upon that here of late. His stories are worthy of these awards and tell some great tales we have to tell here at C-N that go beyond the box score.”

Nearly 500 entries were submitted in seven categories in the 2024-25 contest. Each category was first judged on the district level, with the winners then advancing to national consideration. All national category winners were considered for National Story of the Year.
