JEFFERSON CITY, Tenn. – Carson-Newman Tennis has had six athletes honored by the College Sports Communicators as part of the Academic All-District Teams.
Leah McBride (Johnson City, Tenn.), Maria del Mar Sarda Marti (Barcelona, Spain), Edisa Hot (Bar, Montenegro), and Hala Awad (Cairo, Egypt) were honored on the women’s team. Marnix Van Dalen (Netherlands), and Paul Gayk (Germany) were honored on the men’s side.
The 2024-25 Academic All-District® Tennis teams, selected by College Sports Communicators, recognize the nation’s top student-athletes for their combined performances on the court and in the classroom. The CSC Academic All-America® program separately recognizes tennis honorees in four divisions — NCAA Division I, NCAA Division II, NCAA Division III and NAIA.
Academic All-District® honorees were considered for advancement to the CSC Academic All-America® ballot.
Student-athletes selected as CSC Academic All-America® finalists are denoted with an asterisk and will advance to the national ballot to be voted on by CSC members. First-, second, and third-team Academic All-America® honorees will be announced later this week.
Maria del Mar Sarda Marti and Marnix Van Dalen are both finalists for Academic All-America honors.
Both athletes were honored by the South Atlantic Conference for their performances on their individual teams this season. At one point in the season, both the men’s and women’s tennis teams were ranked by the International Tennis Association (ITA), culminating in SAC Tournament berths for both teams.
