ABCA ranks C-N 18th to end regular season

JEFFERSON CITY, Tenn. – For the eighth straight week, Carson-Newman baseball (35-15) is ranked by the American Baseball Coaches Association, sliding back one spot to No. 18 in the latest poll that was announced yesterday.

The Eagles slide back in the ABCA poll for the third straight week. Overall, this is Carson-Newman’s eighth appearance in the coaches poll, having been ranked as high as nine this season. C-N posted a 3-1 record last week, which included a series win over Mars Hill to conclude the regular season.

 


 


Carson-Newman is one of three teams from the South Atlantic Conference in the rankings. Lenoir-Rhyne and Catawba move up to nine and 11, respectively.

Six other schools in the Southeast region are in the rankings, headlined by four Conference Carolinas schools. The CC has the highest ranked team in the region with Young Harris staying at 7. North Greenville is two spots back at 12. Francis Marion and Belmont Abbey are 20 and 25 to make up the four CC schools. North Georgia is the highest rated Peach Belt school in the rankings, moving up to 13. Lander is tied for 30th.

Three-seeded Carson-Newman begins South Atlantic Conference Tournament play this weekend against sixth-seeded Wingate.
