JEFFERSON CITY, Tenn. – For the third week in a row, Carson-Newman baseball (35-15) stays put at No. 15 in the latest poll DII Baseball released Monday afternoon.

This is the ninth time that DII Baseball has ranked Carson-Newman in its top 25. The Eagles remain at 15 after going 3-1 this past week.

 


 


Head coach Tom Griffin’s team is 35-15 overall this season. It’s C-N’s most wins in a season since 2008 and tied for the third-most in a season in the Griffin era. The Eagles compiled their most wins in a conference regular season, winning 21 games in league play this season. 21 of the 35 wins for the year have been at home, the third-most home wins for the program since turning to DII.

The Eagles are joined in the rankings by two South Atlantic Conference teams. Lenoir-Rhyne remains eighth, while Catawba moves up one spot to number ten.

Carson-Newman is one of seven Southeast region schools ranked. North Greenville has the most wins in the region with 42 and is ranked seventh. Young Harris and Francis Marion also represent Conference Carolinas in the poll at 12 and 18, respectively. North Georgia is the highest rated Peach Belt team at 13, with Lander making its first appearance in the rankings at 25.

Carson-Newman baseball begins South Atlantic Conference play this weekend in Hickory, North Carolina. The Eagles are the number three seed and will play six-seeded Wingate. The full schedule for the weekend will be announced later tonight.
