JEFFERSON CITY, Tenn. – Carson-Newman Women’s Tennis in its final home match of the season broke out the brooms for the seventh time this season in a win over Mars Hill.
Each of the Carson-Newman’s (12-4, 8-2 South Atlantic Conference) last four wins have come by way of the sweep taking down Emory & Henry, Lincoln Memorial, Johnson (Tenn.), and now Mars Hill (0-14, 0-11 SAC) in a 4-0 decision on Tuesday morning.
“It’s always super important to (start well) in doubles,” Carson-Newman Women’s Tennis head coach Nathan Gangelhoff said. “Especially with a team that you’re not really sure about how it’s going to go, because in doubles anything can happen.”
Mar Fraile shined individually with a 6-0, 6-0 sweep earning Food City Player of the Match honors.
“We were really focused, team energy was high,” Fraile said. “I didn’t lose a game, my teammate (Andrea Aguiar) also didn’t lose a game, so we were really focused, we were on it.”
